    expensive WD-40

Published by Jason on 14th Sep 2024

I bought this, coated a brand new jointer. Boy was it amazing... for the first weekend. Re-applied as directed, and amazing again, for another weekend. I keep my tools in a humidity controlled environment. Started getting rust on the jointer, none of my other tools have any rust (I use WD-40 on them) If you have to re-apply weekly, might as well save hundreds of dollars and just use WD-40 sorry, my initial amazement is gone and I just feel ripped off.

    Carbon coating system

Published by Joe Frost on 22nd Aug 2024

I applied the product per instructions on 5 machines in my shop. I applied it to my table saw, Band saw, jointer, planer and router table 18 months ago. I did nothing else did not even use carbon glide. No rust on any tool except table saw in the last month. My shop is on heated or cooled when I’m there. I do however run a dehumidifier just to keep my wood somewhat stable here in the deep south. I knew that I would re coat but was experimenting to see how long the product actually lasts. From here forward I will use carbon glide and repost. The product is great and I’m staying with this system 100 times better than wax.

    Carbon method

Published by Lee on 12th Aug 2024

Was easy to apply. The reason for 4 stars is that I don't really know how well it protects since it has only been on my brand new table saw for a week or so. Hoping it is as good as some say. Will update the review if possible after some time. The glide is very slick and hopefully will add more protection. It did devlope some rust in the process of coating as my shop is hot and I missed a few drops of sweat that hid from me. But because my shop is so humid, time will tell how this product protects

    VERY Impressed

Published by Rick on 31st Jul 2024

I live in Florida and bought a Saw Stop contractor saw. Just days after getting it I saw rust developing on the cast iron top. I had seen the Carbon Coat on YouTube so I ordered the kit. I had a question on the Saturday that I was using it and called the 844 Help Number. I left a voice mail and expected to have to wait until Monday for a return call. Not long after I got a call and it was from a gentleman named Dan. After walking me through a few things it dawned on me that the Dan I was talking to was the owner of the company! I was VERY impressed. The product and the service both far exceeded my expectations! Thank you Dan for your time that Saturday and for a great product!

    CarbonMethod customer Service

Published by Glenn Gipson on 30th Jul 2024

I have not yet applied the Carbon Method products but wanted to comment on their customer service. I had a misplaced delivery from UPS/USPS. Although both companies said it was delivered at my front door it was not. Contacted Carbon Method customer service who responded quickly and said they would check into it and if not resend the order. Well, I received the replacement order a few days later. WELL DONE CARBON METHOD! Great customer service.

    Carbon Coating Kit

Published by John Soucheck on 24th Jul 2024

My shop is located in my garages on a barrier island off the coast of Central Florida between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River. Read "Harsh Environment". I've recently treated my 2010 Saw Stop Industrial Table Saw. Rust is a constant battle. Over the years I've used paste wax, WD-40, Boeshield T-9, probably others with limited success. The most difficult and time consuming part of the Carbon Treatment is cleaning the surface. Started with mineral spirits to remove any remaining coating, then through 400, 800, and 2,000 non-woven pads lubricated with WD-40 , and driven by a cheap ROS. After this and prior to thorough cleaning, I worked a couple of small areas with pitting with medium and fine sandflex hand cleaning / polishing blocks. Then I cleaned the table top multiple times to remove all residue. I then applied the Carbon Coat Treatment. I won't go through this in detail since I followed the instructions in the supplied Application Guide exactly. My intent was to apply 3 / 4 coats as per the literature. However, since I did have a question and contacted Dan, the owner / founder, he suggested that they have had a lot of success in harsh environments with applying 6 coats, which I did. The application process goes quickly. However, since you need to treat small sections of the tool and you need to wait one hour between coats, you virtually dedicate a complete day to the process. Then, a day or two later, you apply a coat of Carbon Glide. The table has never been this 'slick', with wood almost 'floating' on the surface. I only completed this about two weeks ago, so at this point I don't know how well it will hold up and prevent further corrosion. I'll submit a follow up in about six months. One last comment, my interaction with Dan was excellent, he seems to be a great guy.

    Fantastic product - Excellent Results

Published by David - Tiller Trade Co on 18th Jul 2024

We ran this coating on our saw stop for over a year and was blown away at the results! We used to get rust every 6 weeks or so when we used paste wax. After an entire year with carbon method, we have no real rust spot or pitting. Carbon glide is a great maintenance coating as well that helps keep the surface slick. Cant recommend this stuff enough!

    Carbon coat

Published by David Macintire on 17th Jul 2024

Prep was very easy got everything cleaned and the carbon coat on. Waiting 48 hours to put on the carbon glide on and should be good to go. I did my new Harvey table saw and my Powermatic Band saw. I’ll follow up in a few week and post a review on my YouTube channel.

Amazing to start, but quickly loses effectiveness

Published by Kalamane on 8th Jul 2024

This stuff feels amazing and provides a very low friction finish. The problem is that it didn't take very long for the coat to wear away, and I even had some rust appear where I had left parts clamping on the table saw surface for a few days. Would not recommend. Renaissance - Micro Crystalline is a superior product, will provide far more mileage for the cost (many times more as I use 1/100th, or 2ml, of a container for the table saw top whereas the Carbon Method requires 1/4 of the bottle)
