Carbon Coating Kit

I bought this product for my son after using it myself on all of the tools in my woodworking shop. So far, it has held up well with no rust on any tool, however, my workshop is in an air conditioned basement so I would not expect to see much rust. The carbon glide product looks like you just polished the surface after the carbon method goes on to protect the surface. The only reason I gave it four stars was that it was too new for me to evaluate completely and I am hoping the cost comes down after more customers become aware of the product since I consider the cost to be a little high right now.

I am more than happy to rate the product on google- but wanted you to see it before posting. “This is of course a product that really will take time to prove itself - but I feel comfortable giving it a good rating. I purchased the package to do 1-2 machines- if I were to complain about anything- it would be the amount of cleaner given in the kit. For me- it barley covered my table saw- most likely user error but if I ran out so quickly- others will too. The application video was top notch - process was simple and maintenance applications should be a breeze- I’m happy enough to have thrown away my turtle wax”

While I have only had this product on my equipment for about two weeks, I can say at the outset that the surfaces that I treated with these materials looks outstanding. Very easy to apply, the only difficult part is removing the original coating. I chose to sand mine with a 500 grit felt sanding pad prior to applying the carbon method. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I think because of the proprietary nature of the product, it could be more reasonably priced.

This is an initial impression after I applied the Carbon Method to the top bed of my Rikon 70-3040 lathe. The quick kit was well packaged and the instructions were clear. I really appreciated the available video as to how to prep the tool and apply the product. I can't yet comment on the endurance of the product as that will take some time. Prior to the Carbon Method I used Boeshield T-9 and wax to prevent rust. It did pretty good job, but when turning a whole days worth of wet wood, there would be some small amount of surface rust to clean up. After two days of turning wet maple into rough turned bowls, I have seen no surface rust after applying three coats of Carbon method and a few coats of Carbon glide per the instructions. I plan on using Carbon glide after cleaning the lathe prior to the next day of turning. The Carbon Method is expensive. If it prevents me from scrubbing surface rust off every day, it will be worth it. I hope the protection lasts.

Just wanted to say what a great product you have! I Have been using other products that seem to add some protection, but have to apply very often, but put your product to the test with a co-worker accidentally leaving a pop can on my cast iron table saw, and held up great, left no stain or rust marks. I now put your product on all my cast iron tables. Keep up the good work, I will continue to use your product from now on!

The stuff is slick as a button. It goes on easily and provides the slippriest surface I have ever seen. I haven't used it long enough to comment on its long term rust prevention, but I feel most certain it will live up to the promises made by the manufacturer.
