Description

The ideal tool for conditioning cast iron for Carbon Coat application! These extra-thick 6" x 9" pads flex to work into pitted rust spots, and are faster and cleaner than sandpaper or steel wool. Abrasives are infused throughout the pad for long life, and they're designed to resist loading when used with Carbon Method Reconditioning Oil.

    Abrasion and polishing

There are 3 sheets in each grit. I recommend cutting them in half, as that fit my 5” sander best. So, there’s enough for several tools or applications. They work well, as expected.

    abrasive pads

I used these pads and reconditioning oil to clean up two band saws, two table saws, one jointer/ planer and a shaper. There wasn't much rust to contend with but there were some light stains. I tried using my random orbit sander but there was too much spray of the oil from the sander so I used a Rubio Monocoat pad handle and scrubbed the cast iron by hand. I am very happy with the finish.

    Abrasive Pads

I used a power buffer ( 5") to clean my surfaces. These pads only yielded one 5" pad, a lot of wasted material. I found 5" pads on the WEB and they worked much better. Carbon Method should offer an option to purchase and already cut 5" pad.

Not thrilled. I found them to thin and wore through very quickly.
