Pro Tip Tuesday: Metal Shaving Safety

Pro Tip Tuesday: Metal Shaving Safety

28th Apr 2026

Hey, it’s Zack, back with another Pro Tip Tuesday from Carbon Method!

If you’re like me, sometimes you work with metal in your shop – and when you work metal, you get metal shavings. And that can be a problem, because metal shavings can get sucked into your dust collection system.

When metal shavings hit the impeller in your blower, they can spark, and sparks with fine wood dust? That can lead to a serious fire risk.

Here’s the good news! Lightning Lock uses shockingly strong neodymium magnets to snap your fittings into place. Those same magnets act like a trap for metal shavings, catching them before they ever make it further into your system.

Cleaning them is easy! Just take a piece of blue painter’s tape and press it against the metal buildup, lifting those shaving off without gunking things up or damaging your fitting. Keeping the airflow clean, and your shop safer.

Remember: Lightning Lock is the right connection if you want to have the best protection!
