BenchNuts are incredibly versatile on their own — but we also encourage makers to accessorize them in ways that bring additional utility to their shops!
So we've designed BenchNut Cups to allow makers to integrate BenchNuts into their existing work surfaces and workholding jigs, including Bench Dogs, Dovetail Tracks, T-Tracks, or any flat work surface. BenchNut Cups enhance the security of your BenchNuts and workpiece, providing additional stability and clearance under a workpiece.
We're not selling completed BenchNut Cups — instead, we're providing the STL and DXF files completely free of charge, so makers can build their own and customize them as needed! We can't wait to see what you come up with, so make sure to tag us on social media when you post your creations.
BenchNut Cups come in two primary orientations: a horizontal (or flat) Cup, and a vertical Cup — referring to the orientation of the BenchNut when seated in the Cup. This gets you two additional standoff heights for your BenchNuts!
Along with each Cup, you'll need a base or "integration." The Cup-to-integration connection is universal, meaning you can use either a horizontal or vertical Cup with any of the integrations. The integrations are:
Bench Dog: Integration with 20 mm or 3/4-inch Bench Dogs, secured with a user-supplied 1/4-20 machine screw and 1/4-20 nut. The nut is placed inside the Bench Dog post from the bottom and the machine screw is inserted from the top of the BenchNut Cup.
Dovetail Track: Integration with fins that fit inside standard 14° dovetail track and a printed dovetail nut, secured with a user-supplied 10-32 machine screw and a 10-32 threaded insert, installed in the user-printed dovetail nut.
T-Track: Integration with fins that fit inside standard T-Track, secured with a user-supplied 1/4-20 machine screw and T-nut.
Flat Bench: Integration sits on a flat surface with a user-supplied PSA-backed foam piece on the bottom (DXF files included), and the cup connects to the integration with a user-supplied 1/4-20 machine screw and 1/4-20 nut.
BenchNut Cup files are offered free of charge and are provided "as-is." Carbon Method does not offer any customer service, technical support, or troubleshooting for production or use.
